Graduates Challenged to Become Job Creators, Not Job Seekers at Dzaleka Refugee Camp

DOWA, Malawi— Graduates at There Is Hope Vocational Training College at Dzaleka Refugee camp in Dowa district have been challenged to be job creators, not job seekers if the country needs to attend its 2063 blueprint, writes Philord Magalasi.


The remarks were made today, Friday, October 6, 2023, by Executive Director For Kings Institute For Transformation of Malawi, Pyoka Tembo, during the graduation ceremony which took place at There Is Hope Vocational Training College campus in the district.

Speaking earlier, Head of project for WASH in the country, Harry Guelker, said his organization is committed to providing resources to the installation so that more youths in the country should have access to skills for the social-economic growth of the country.


In her remarks, Executive Director for There Is Hope Vocational Training College, Cathreen Chirwa, said the installation is geared to train more youths with different skills in various disciplines so that the youths in the country should be economically independent.


One of the students, Kissa Mtoseni, under Fabrication and Welding, said the skills obtained at the institution will help her transform her economic status.


She has urged the youths not to look down upon themselves but rather to join vocational trainings so that their lives will change.


Over 90 students have received their certificates in various disciplines ranging from fabrication and welding, bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry and joinery, and solar photovoltaic Installation.
